If you are looking for a way to control your blood glucose, low carb is the way to go.
You adjust this diet to fit into your lifestyle. No need for fancy foods. If you stay with wholesome natural real foods it is not more expensive than your current lifestyle.
If your goal is to lose weight as well as to control your blood glucose, you will obviously need to watch what you eat. Use a tracker app (like fatsecret) and watch your ratio's. First control your blood glucose, then the weight and health will fall into place.
Children do not need to follow specific ratio's. They eat when they are hungry. They need food, healthy real homemade food. No junk. (See the articles here for more information)
I do feel that you will get positive results if you keep your carbs below 50g per day, even less if you want to lose weight and be in perfect control of you blood glucose. This will differ from person to person and you will need to find your perfect ratio. So you adjust the program to fit your lifestyle. People without insulin resistance (like children) may find that their bodies can tolerate more carbs (not more than 90g per day, though). Just keep in mind what the effect is of carbs and fat in your diet on your body is. (Fat plus carbs = cholesterol)

Myns insiens is dat in die begin 50g koolhidrate per dag nie oorskry moet word nie, selfs minder as jy gewig wil verloor en jou bloedsuiker vlak perfek wil beheer. Dit is verskil egter van individu tot individu. So byvoorbeeld sal iemand wat nie insulienweerstandig is nie (soos kinders) dalk meer koolhidrate kan hanteer (maar nie meer as 90g per dag nie). Wees net bewus van die koolhidraat/vet reaksie in 'n mens se liggaam. (Te veel koolhidrate plus vet = cholesterol)
